Dynamic About This Trail

About This Trail

Every Grace Trail shares the same five questions, yet no two are exactly alike. Discover the landscape, stories, and community that shape this one.

Created on family-owned land that has been cared for over generations, this installation was brought to life during a time when many were seeking space to slow down and reconnect.

Led by Lynda and Bill Schumann and shaped through the support of friends, volunteers, and local partners, the trail was thoughtfully integrated into the existing landscape—resulting in three distinct walking paths that reflect both the character of the farm and the intention behind its creation.

Today, the trail continues to be experienced by visitors from across Central Texas—families, individuals, and groups who come to walk, reflect, and spend time in nature.

Trail Features

Every community is different. Grace Trail is designed to adapt to the people, places, and purpose of each one.

Dynamic Commuity In Action

Powered By Community

Every Grace Trail is rooted in its community. From the people who champion it to the stories it reflects, each trail becomes a one-of-a-kind expression of place.

The Green Trees Farm Grace Trail® represents a sophisticated model for Private-Public Synergy. This installation reflects the vision of its founders and the collective effort of those who helped bring it to life—emerging through the support of friends, volunteers, and local partners.

This trail proves that when a family opens their gates to the community, they create more than a path; they create a sanctuary where connection unfolds quietly and every walk becomes part of an ongoing story of resilience. Through ongoing care, presence, and participation, the trail remains a living part of the farm—shaped by the people who walk it and the land that holds it.

Carrying Words On The Texas Wind

The Green Trees Farm Grace Trail® is a living landscape that evolves with the needs of the community. In partnership with the Temple Rotary Club, we have introduced the Wind Phone to our pastures.

Inspired by the original in Japan, this non-electric rotary phone offers a private, soulful way to speak words to those we have lost.

It is a powerful metaphor for enduring connection and a dedicated space for processing grief through the simple act of storytelling—allowing the wind to carry what the heart needs to release.

Life Along The Trail

Along the way, simple moments begin to stand out— what you notice, what you feel, and what stays with you.

Footsteps

& Life

Horses grazing in nearby fields, cattle moving across the land, families walking the paths, and visitors exploring at their own pace—each bringing their own rhythm to the farm.

Open pastures, shifting light, and the steady presence of the land create a rhythm that feels expansive, grounding, and alive.

Nature's

Rhythm

Shaped by the vision of its founders and brought to life with the help of friends, volunteers, and local partners, this trail reflects a shared commitment to creating something meaningful on the land.

Stories Along the Way

Books and reflection share the same path here. The Little Free Library and Storybook Trail invite families to pause, read, exchange a story, and continue around the loop—adding moments of curiosity and connection to a park already filled with movement, play, and everyday community life.

Held by Community

The community is visible in the details. Hand-forged animals, locally crafted elements, and signage in three languages give this compact neighborhood Trail a character all its own. What surrounds the five questions reflects the many hands, ideas, and contributions that helped shape the place.

Footsteps & Life

A parent walks while waiting for a game to begin. Friends take a loop and talk. Families move between the fields, books, and five questions. Here, Grace Trail becomes part of what people are already doing—a place for reflection woven naturally into the rhythm of the park.

Footsteps & Life

This small loop welcomes many ways of moving through it—neighbors out for a walk, families searching for hidden animals, children exploring, and visitors spending time with the five questions. Its scale makes Grace feel approachable: something to encounter together or quietly on your own.

The Sound of the Park

Bouncing balls, whistles, pickleball paddles, children laughing, and neighbors greeting one another create the soundtrack here. Reflection happens alongside it all, showing that a meaningful pause doesn't require silence—or stepping away from the activity of everyday life.

Nature's Rythym

The pond, mature trees, wildlife, and changing seasons give the Trail a different character throughout the year. Ducks appear near the water, deer move through the woods, and shifting light invites walkers to notice a landscape that never feels quite the same twice.

Dynamic Tales from the Trail

Tales From The Trail

Along this trail, people pass grazing horses, pause along the land, and often catch Rufus—the farm’s dog—either on patrol or taking a well-earned break nearby.

Across the winding paths of Green Trees Farm, the air is filled with the low hum of the Texas wind and the steady rhythm of horses grazing nearby.

Here, reflection feels as natural as the sunrise. You might find a visitor using the Wind Phone to speak words to a lost loved one, or a family walking the long loop as the light shifts across the meadow. In Troy, grace is a shared experience—one that moves at the pace of the land.

Shared Beyond the Trail

From the soulful whispers carried by the Wind Phone to the curated retreats that bring groups from across Central Texas, Green Trees Farm has become a beacon of rural healing—proving that a private gift can create a public legacy of hope and restorative connection.
